Prince Harvey is being recognized for taking DIY music producing to a whole new level. He recorded an entire album (secretly) in the Soho Apple Store. He appropriately named this album PHATASS (Price Harvey At The Apple Store Soho). “It wasn’t my plan to record this at the Apple Store. First, my computer died. Then my external[hard drive] died,” he says. “New York is expensive. I couldn’t just buy another laptop. I just thought, ‘I’m going to die before anyone knows I’m hot.’” (Daily Beast). The entire album is made completely with human voices that Harvey recorded at the apple store everyday for four consecutive months. This determination under limited resources earned him praise from Lil’ Wayne, Russell Simmons, Chamillionaire, and Talib Kweli Greene as well as numerous features in top music and culture publications.
